Michael Tilley is one of New Zealand's leading competition lawyers.

Michael has over 20 years’ experience working on the most high-profile and complex matters in the field. He provides clear, pragmatic and commercial advice to help his clients achieve their goals. Michael’s experience spans all aspects of competition law, across a wide range of industries.

Before founding tilley+co, Michael held senior positions at the Commerce Commission, including as its most senior specialist competition lawyer, and as its Head of Mergers. He has also worked in a leading large law firm in New Zealand, and a Magic Circle firm in the UK. Michael started his career at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, before moving to the UK to join the Office of Fair Trading (now part of the Competition and Markets Authority) where he focused on mergers, as well as investigations in the financial services and technology sectors. 

Michael founded tilley+co because he is passionate about competition law and customer service. His mission is to make his clients’ lives as easy as possible, by providing the highest quality competition law advice.
